I wrote this for the other website and it basically say it all :

Despite most of the LPAA committee whimping out and cancelling the work party that was to be held at Forrester’s on the 18th of August one of the committee and a number of club members have carried out the planned work.

Firstly the committee would like to apologise for not getting the message about cancelling the work party to you on time to save you the trip down and secondly we would like to thank you for the hard work you have put in.

Thanks to Rob Walker, Alan, Andrew and Stephen Robson, Jimmy Short and Jimmy Gibson there are now 11 swims at Forrester’s. It’s great to know when us softies were put off by a little bit of rain we have people in the club who can go that extra mile. Thanks again lads, you can have the next work party off I promise.

p.s. if any of the lads from this trip or any other club member wants to email me (Paddy Hutchinson) their mobile numbers I can make sure they are informed of any cancellations. (as with all other personal information the LPAA hold, this wont be given to any third parties)

I was one of the few who bothered to turn up on Saturday, all be it at 10am but at least I was there! To say I was disappointed at the turn out (especialy the committee) would be an understatement and doesn't inspire me to attend future work parties! But the work donE by 3 1/2 adults and 2 kids was amazing.

Has the '4 in 1 Syndrome' started at LPAA?

On a more positive note. Instead of the hap-hazzard knee jerk reactionary style of arranging work parties, would it not be better to have scheduled work parties on say 2nd saturady of the month or other defined dates. This could be posted on the website, notice boards and news letters and allow members who really want to attend to plan around it instead of giving the excuse that they didn't know about it!

It would also be useful to have defined tasks for each work party instead of just turning up and making it up as we go along. As would the type of tools needed and what would be provided by the club.

Special work parties would still be required outside this schedule for things such as re-stocking and pLatform installation. But this could stilL be done to give members plenty of notice if planned correctly.

I stand to be shot down in flames if this has already been tried and failed, but I can only see it a positive step to improving attendance at work parties, the level of work carried out and the long term quality of the clubs fisheries!

AND YES I WILL TAKE YOU'S UP ON THE OFFER OF BURGERS AND PINTS!!

Sorry Jim I was one of the softies that was put off by the wet stuff Embarassed

I think you idea of planning them on set days is a good one, I'm sure Neil (the fisheries officer) will give it some thought and we can discuss it at the next commitee meeting.

Thanks again for all your hard work mate.
