I was one of the few who bothered to turn up on Saturday, all be it at 10am but at least I was there! To say I was disappointed at the turn out (especialy the committee) would be an understatement and doesn't inspire me to attend future work parties! But the work donE by 3 1/2 adults and 2 kids was amazing.
Has the '4 in 1 Syndrome' started at LPAA?
On a more positive note. Instead of the hap-hazzard knee jerk reactionary style of arranging work parties, would it not be better to have scheduled work parties on say 2nd saturady of the month or other defined dates. This could be posted on the website, notice boards and news letters and allow members who really want to attend to plan around it instead of giving the excuse that they didn't know about it!
It would also be useful to have defined tasks for each work party instead of just turning up and making it up as we go along. As would the type of tools needed and what would be provided by the club.
Special work parties would still be required outside this schedule for things such as re-stocking and pLatform installation. But this could stilL be done to give members plenty of notice if planned correctly.
I stand to be shot down in flames if this has already been tried and failed, but I can only see it a positive step to improving attendance at work parties, the level of work carried out and the long term quality of the clubs fisheries!
