I'm so pleased that LPAA lads are fishing Thorny and more importantly passing on their catch reports. We have paid for the right to fish there and by the sound of it is fishing it watsits off.

had a few three hour sessions up ther myself recently, fished well despite of the weed, all sessions produced nets of no less than 5lb of perch , gudgeon and tench.

for those who haven't fished Thorny, it really is a lovely pond, and just off the bus route for the 635 (I think) newcastle to carlisle bus, so you can get there with a small amount of gear even if you don't have a car/trike, and the fishing is worth it.

the big tench haven't shown up this season from what I've heard, but you have a very real chance of catching a 5lb plus tench, plus some lovely ghosties, but unlike leazes, you can stay busy all day with perch, small tench and gonks.

a sturdy float rod, a box of bits, a tup of maggots and rod and landing net are all you need and it can be great.
