whats the point of having silver fish in a carp lake,or is it a mixed one as i have never seen anyone fishing for the little things,do you have any match people on your lake? because to me its seems the only lads anyone one sees are the carp ones

Used to be a really good match lake top gun, up until a few years ago. Then it was dredged and cleared out. Add to that the sodding cormerants in the winter recently and it doesnt help the situation! Sad The match lads are there, and things are starting to pick up tho, lets hope they stay that way for the future Smile

Suspect Suspect Suspect i wonder why it is that there arent many bits lads fishing the park at the moment?, maybe its because there losing the faith, maybe its because its to do with the fact that we are still struggling along with the odd couple of fish coming out, its a long way from being 'bits galore' at the park at the moment, when i hear people say 'oh theres loads of bits coming out' it makes me chuckle because there was a time when you could not get a place on the bank because of bits anglers, you used to have to book a peg in advance, there were bags of 20lb+ coming from all over the lake, these days we are lucky to scrape together 10lb amongst all the bits lads, there is a saying that springs to mind that sums it up for me and that is, ' one day of sun does not a summer make', now im not saying that things have not improved, and im sure that after the planting goes ahead and if they take hold the all round envioroment of the lake will improve, we will have somewhere for all the fry that have hatched out this year to hide, and if 10% of them make it through the first two years the bits angling might just take off again, im hoping that in the next couple of years this is the case, we are just gonna have to wait and see!!!!. I think leazes is a very good lake and there are some very big fish in it,and as jamie rightly points out,it can only get better heres looking to the future, maybe the fish are there, but your not capable of catching them, sometimes it takes more than a maggot at waggler lenth to turn good results, work at it and reap the rewards

Does anyone think it would be worthwhile fishing the bay to take out the 4 oz +perch that the juniors were catching in their matches? we might then be able to put fry from the main lake in there and hopefully in a year or two we'll reap the rewards.

Theres loads of fish in the main lake,(as top gun says) you just cant catch them! Very Happy i was gonna get a boat out tuther day but managed to walk to the island on the backs of various perch, roach, rudd, tench, match carp, and others!!!! Very Happy But seriously its a ongoing disscusion at the moment on what to do with the notorious bay perch
